Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome at YVES Marrakech!

We want to ensure your experience with us is smooth and enjoyable. To help you find answers quickly, we have created a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section for questions we are frequently asked.

At the hotel, you will find a small 'travel guide' written by us, offering information about our hotel and many tips for your stay in Marrakech. For any further questions, our team is always available to assist you.

We want you to feel comfortable with us.

  • 1: Is Marrakech a safe place to travel to?

Marrakech is generally considered a safe travel destination, but like any travel, it's important to remain aware and take usual precautions, especially regarding pickpocketing and tourist scams. It's recommended to keep valuables secure, stay in well-lit and busy areas, and heed the advice of local authorities. Additionally, checking the current travel advisories and warnings from your home country before traveling is advisable.

For several years now, many women have been traveling alone or in pairs and can feel safe in Marrakech. Additionally, the YVES is located on a street with private security, and it is close to 'Dar Bacha,' the Mayor's residence, which is guarded around the clock. We also have a night guard, so the boutique riad is staffed 24/7.

We take good care of you!

    Water:

Marrakech provides its residents with tap water. While all locals are accustomed to drinking tap water, we cannot recommend it, especially as it is heavily chlorinated in summer. We offer you complimentary mineral water upon your arrival. You can also purchase additional water (still and sparkling) from us at a low cost. It is safe to shower with tap water or brush your teeth

    Medical care:

There are several clinics in Marrakech, including an international clinic and a university hospital.

Well-trained doctors from both Morocco and abroad work there.

In case of a medical emergency, our team is available to assist you immediately.

  • 2: What's included in my stay?

    Free Airport pick-up:

We will pick you up from Marrakech airport with our chauffeur service free of charge. Please provide us with your flight number, departure airport, and estimated arrival time. We need this information so that we can track any delays. You can travel with peace of mind - we also offer you a late check-in option.

For the return transport, we can gladly arrange a paid transport service for you. You can pay for this external service either through us or directly to the driver. Typically, there are always taxi drivers available at Dar Bacha who can take you to the airport at a lower cost than our chauffeur service. Please inform us in advance of your decision so that we can order the transportation service promptly if needed.

    Breakfast:

A delicious and hearty breakfast is included in the room rate. Upon arrival, you will receive a form for your individual preferences, and we are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions or special diets such as vegan or vegetarian, as far as possible in Morocco. However, please note that we may not be able to procure all products available in Europe or the USA (e.g., gluten-free flour) in Marrakech. Nevertheless, we are sure you will leave satisfied!

  • 3: What time can I check-in and check-out?

    Check-in:

Our regular check-in time is from 2 p.m. If you arrive earlier, you are welcome to leave your luggage with us. In this case, we will endeavor to prepare the room for you as soon as possible, but thorough cleaning takes time. We appreciate your understanding.

    Check-out:

Our regular check-out time is at 11 a.m. If you depart later, you are welcome to leave your luggage with us and pick it up later. We will take good care of it.

As mornings are often very busy with our guests, we would appreciate it if you could agree to the check-out procedure the evening before.

    Check-in procedure:

We offer online check-in. If you are unable to fill out the form online, we can do it manually on-site. We will need some information from you and a copy of your passport.

Many of our guests book through various booking portals. Typically, you do NOT pay through the portals, but directly to us on-site. To avoid any misunderstandings, we kindly ask you to clarify this with the respective portal before check-out.

Please ensure that the total amount can be paid by credit card (e.g. daily limit). In this case, you are welcome to pay on different days.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • 4: Whats's about smoking?

Our rooms are all non-smoking rooms. However, smoking is permitted outdoors on the patio or terrace - ashtrays are provided.

  • 5: How do I find the YVES if I'm arriving on my own?

Navigating through the labyrinth of alleys in the Medina can often be a challenge. The narrow lanes are not accessible for taxis. Google Maps or the Maps.me app can be useful tools to find your way. The navigation is available offline if you download the map of Marrakech via Wi-Fi beforehand.

    Directions to us:

    • Start from DAR BACHA, Rte Sidi Abdelaziz.
    • Follow the lane RTE SIDI ABDELAZIZ for about 100m until the first left turn onto the destination street ARSET AOUZAL RD.
    • Continue straight until the end.
    • Turn left at the mosque.
    • After about 50m, take the second right turn.
    • At the end of this alley, you will reach your destination YVES, about 50m at the end of the alley.
    • The map representation in this area is unfortunately very inaccurate, so it's best to enter the destination with the coordinates:

    31.63035, -7.99378

If you get lost, feel free to call us:

    +212 7 02 87 87 77

  • 6: What's your cancellation policy?

If you book through our website, we have a 7 day cancellation policy. After that, we will charge the full room rate (excluding tourism tax). If you have booked through a booking portal, the cancellation rules will be specified there, and you must adhere to them.

If your flight is delayed or canceled, we cannot be held liable, and we will charge the full price of the reservation.

We highly recommend obtaining travel insurance that covers such situations.

  • 7: How do I exchange currency?

In Morocco, you can pay with Moroccan Dirham (MAD), and many shops as well as taxi drivers also accept Euros or Dollars. However, we recommend exchanging some money directly at the airport.

Nearly all ATM's dispense Moroccan Dirham with your local bank at home and can be found nearly everywhere. Money can also be exchanged at banks and exchange shops - this is government regulated and the rates are the same everywhere. Credit cards are generally widely accepted. American Express might be sometimes difficult. If you take out large sums, keep the receipts to be able to change the currency back at the airport.

    You can't leave with it.

It's a good idea to always keep some small change (coins) in your pocket - there are few beggars (mostly women with small children or elderly women), but they do exist, and they appreciate a small donation.

  • 8: What's about wifi & mobile?

Our WiFi code is visible in a small picture frame in your room and in the lobby. Of course, you can make internet calls anywhere there is WiFi connection. Almost all restaurants in Marrakech provide a code as well.

However, if you still wish to purchase a Moroccan SIM card, we recommend inwi or orange.Virtual SIM cards to manage two numbers on your phone are not yet available in Morocco.

  • 9: What's about lunch & dining?

In collaboration with several good restaurants in the area, we can also offer you a home delivery service. You can enjoy our beautiful house in peace and dine with us. We will set the table in the dining room or on the rooftop terrace for you and provide drinks. Please inquire about this service.

Upon arrival, we are pleased to offer you a complimentary small bottle of mineral water. If you require more, you can purchase additional drinks from us.

  • 10: What if I want to see more of the country?

We are proud to collaborate with a highly reliable company for tours in Morocco, ensuring you have the best experiences during your stay. We have curated a selection of the most popular trips, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the amazing country. Whether you're interested in exploring the vibrant cityscapes, the serene deserts, or the picturesque coastal areas, there's something for everyone.

You can find more information in our small travel guide at the hotel. You do not need to book in advance; you can plan this at your leisure once you are here with us.

We are here to help you create unforgettable memories and make the most of your time in Morocco.

  • 11: Where can I get good tips for my stay?

Of course, there are countless travel guides about Marrakech and Morocco. Upon your arrival, you will receive a small guide from us, tailored with our highlights just for you. Here, we not only inform you about our hotel but also provide restaurant and shopping recommendations.

We look forward to welcoming you!

  • 12: What if I travel during Ramadan?

Traveling to Marrakech during Ramadan offers a special glimpse into the city's serene ambiance, with a noticeable calmness prevailing in the air. While the city continues to welcome visitors from all corners of the globe, it also observes certain restrictions in observance of this holy month.

Marrakech, being an international hub that embraces diversity and respects all faiths, kindly requests your understanding and cooperation in adhering to the rules of Ramadan. During this period, it is customary for Muslims to fast from dawn until dusk, abstaining from food, drink, and other worldly pleasures. It is also a time for increased spiritual reflection, prayer, and acts of charity.

As our esteemed guests, we encourage you to immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Morocco, embracing the traditions and customs that make this country so unique. Whether you choose to partake in the breaking of the fast, known as iftar, or simply witness the vibrant atmosphere of the city during this time, we are certain that your experience will be one of profound enrichment and enlightenment.

We want to remind you that our room rate includes breakfast, a meal we take great pride in. However, we understand that some of our guests may be fasting during their stay, observing the traditions of Ramadan. If this applies to you, please don't hesitate to let us know if you'd prefer to have your breakfast served as lftar in the early evening, after sunset.

While many European restaurants in the vicinity maintain regular hours, you may find that some Moroccan establishments adhere to a different schedule, opening only in the evening. If you prefer to dine out, our team can recommend nearby options or arrange for delivery service right to our house. Additionally, we offer a variety of beverages in-house for your convenience and enjoyment.

The entire YVES team are committed to ensuring your stay with us is comfortable and memorable. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything we can assist you with. Your satisfaction is our priority. We hope you thoroughly enjoy your time here with us.

At the beginning of Ramadan, people often say "Ramadan Mubarak" or "Ramadan Kareem" to wish others a blessed and generous Ramadan. At the end of Ramadan, people commonly say "Eid Mubarak" to wish others a blessed Eid al-Fitr. Another phrase that is sometimes used is "Eid Sa'id," which means "Happy Eid.”
