We are hosts driven by passion!
Many years ago, our family fell in love with the 'red desert city' of Marrakech: the vibrant colors, the opulent light, the oriental spices, and the many gracious people.
From this love, a French-Moroccan restaurant on the German North Sea island of Sylt and a small, exquisite boutique hotel in Marrakech were born.
Visit us in Rantum on the island of Sylt and in Marrakech to enjoy with us the Oriental-French flair.
Yours sincerely,
Family Bispink | Hofmann
Marrakech is one of the most fascinating cities in Morocco, known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning architecture, with a long and eventful history spanning over a thousand years. It was founded in 1062 by the Almoravid dynasty and served as the capital of their empire. Over the centuries, it became a center of trade, culture, and Islamic scholarship. The old city, known as the Medina, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a labyrinth of narrow streets, bustling souks (markets), and historical buildings. The heart of the Medina is the Djemaa el-Fna square, a lively hub of activity with street performers, food stalls, and vendors selling everything from spices to traditional handicrafts.
The city is known for its stunning architecture, which reflects its diverse cultural influences, including Berber, Arab, and Moorish. Key architectural highlights include the Koutoubia Mosque with its distinctive minaret, the elaborate Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs with their intricate tile work.
Other hotspots are the famous beautiful gardens that provide peaceful oases amid the bustling city. The Majorelle Garden, once owned by Yves Saint Laurent, features exotic plants, brightly colored buildings, and an Islamic art museum. If you're looking for more green oases in the city, visit the Menara Garden and the Agdal Park.
Moroccan cuisine, with its delicious tajines, couscous dishes, and aromatic spices, is a highlight of any visit to Marrakech.
Enjoy local delicacies at street stalls, traditional eateries, and upscale restaurants throughout the city.
Here, you will find a melting pot of cultures with influences from Berber, Arab, African, and European traditions. Experience traditional Moroccan music, dance, and storytelling at places like the Maison de la Photographie or the Dar Si Said Museum.
It's best to explore not only the historical and cultural landmarks of the city but also a variety of outdoor activities such as camel rides in the desert, hot air balloon rides over the Atlas Mountains, and day trips to nearby attractions like the Ourika Valley or the Atlas Studios.
The unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty makes Marrakech a fascinating destination for travelers from around the world. Whether you explore the bustling souks of the Medina or relax in a tranquil garden oasis, Marrakech is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Never hesitate to go far away, beyond all seas,
all frontiers, all countries, all beliefs.
